Sorry, I should make things clearer.

I mean start a task on another computer although I would imagine if I can start a task (run an executable) on another computer I would be able shut it down/restart it without too much difficulty.

I have a com server that can off load to another com server on a different computer. I can tell them to shut down and I want to be able start them again. In theory I can span a task that waits until the remote server is shut down and then start it but I would like to be able to centralise thinsg so that I can dynamically start extra servers should the load increase beyond a certain point or if the processor is rebooted.

Hence the desire to be able to execute a task on another computer on the network. I thought there may be an API function but haven't found one. Any and all ideas gratefully accepted.
