With a VFP/Interbase combination (or blue+red shorts) you would get the benefits of both RUSHMORE and Database. VFP provides the GUI and VFP RUSHMORE cursors would cache the selects from Interbase!

Is Interbase a Borland (ENPRISE?) product? I remember them shipping Interbase with dBase VII.
