More popular is not a good reason. It's like saying you'll buy a car from a particular manufacturer because they sell more cars than other automakers.
VB 6 is not a good choice. It is truely a dead language. There is no more development happening on it from Microsoft.

Of course these applications already built with Fox2.X Dos. I strongly recommand remaking the applaction with VFP windows version. It is very convenient and easy to migrate into window environment with VFP as a rebuilding tool.
