Many people are not aware of this but one of the nations largest oil reserves is under the Tehachapi Mountains, in California. It is a federal reserve (in case of war), which is not allowed to be tapped.

We also have many other sources of oil throughout the state and we could go back to off shore drilling if we had to. Examples of this are Santa Maria, to Long Beach along the cost as well as the Central Valley around Bakersfield. I would bet though with the environmental consciousness of many residents in the stateb we would develop alternative fuel sources like fuel cells.

With a Governor Elect that has 5 Hummers, at least one Mercedes SUV and a Boeing 747, I know one person in this state who is dependant upon oil as a source of fuel. :)
