I agree, however there have been cases of poorly manufactured condoms not preventing the spread of any disease, not just aids:

The gist of it is regarding how the Catholic church is stating offiicially that condoms - latex or otherwise - do not help stop the spread of aids. Simply put, regardless of their stand on the birth control issue, this is deplorable. It would be fine to say to do not use them because the church does not believe in birth control, but to say that they are not an effective way to reduce the spread of aids is not. Makes me feel that the church has not come anywhere since the 1400's.
