Hi Fred,

No, I haven't been through DTW in several years. ANY improvement would be a welcome change, even if the airline is Northworst.

BTW, I goofed -- Albuquerque is ABQ, not ABX (my Phriday Phingers at work again...)

>Guess you haven't been through Detroit lately. The new terminal there really cleans up their act! Maybe that's only if you fly Northwest, though. Now there's something that could use some improvement!

>>Hi Tracy,
>>
>>Got to disagree with you on D/FW Airport -- it's actually reasonably comfortable by comparison to many places I've flown into/out of (though the restaurants *are* awful -g-). Now, if you had said "Dulles" (ugh) -- THAT I would agree with. Those stupid shuttles to your gate from main check-in NEVER run on time...
>>
>>Here's some other thoughts:
>>Most walking -- LAX (Los Angeles) (do those corridors EVER end?)
>>Hardest to navigate -- O'Hare (Chicago) -- DFW (Dallas) is a close second
>>Most spread out terminal -- DIA (Denver)
>>Worst check-in -- Dulles (DC) and Newark
>>Easiest in and out -- Long Beach (but no jetways and *outdoor* baggage claims???)
>>Worst in and out -- Reagan National, JFK , and Newark
>>Busiest and most crowded -- Atlanta (even O'Hare can't top this one)
>>Prettiest view -- PDX (Portland) (that view of Mt. Hood has to be seen...)
>>Nicest terminals -- Sky Harbor (Phoenix) and ABI (Austin, TX) (also the best live music!)
>>Dirtiest and smelliest -- Midway (Chicago) and DTW (Detroit)
>>Most lax security -- ABX (Albuquerque)
>>Tightest security -- Reagan National (DC) (self-absorbed arrogant jerks, too)
>>Easiest luggage pickup -- McCarran (Las Vegas)
>>Worst luggage pickup -- San Diego (the right carousel might be in another terminal -g-)
>>Most remote location -- Sacramento (ain't NOTHING close to this one) and KCI (Kansas City)
>>Scariest landing -- Oakland (you can practically reach out and touch the water as they land)
>>Furthest distance to remote parking -- BWI (Baltimore) (they park you in Annapolis -g-)
>>Best concessions -- SeaTac (Seattle-Tacoma) (hands down winner)
>>Worst concessions -- Chattanooga (nothing after 7PM) and LAX (cold Burger King if you're lucky)
>>
>>Can you tell I travel a lot? (bg)

>>>Having been to both airports, I have to say that Charlotte is one my favorite airports. I fly into it whenever I can if I cannot get a direct flight to my destination. It is interesting to walk around and has many shops, coffee houses (my personal vice), and restaurants down every well-lit corridor. Now Dallas and Atlanta are to be avoided AT ALL COSTS! :o)

Get off, stretch legs, clear immigration. From those larger airports you have lots of options re internal travel. I'm sure you could go all the way to Charlotte on United or AA or once you are here you could use JetBlue or similar for the internal hops.
