>I'm converting an application from 2.6 into Visual and am experiencing problems with loading bitmap files on a form. All files are 11k and load fine in 2.6. In Visual I get the "Picture too big, corrupt, or in wrong format". When I resave the files as Monochrome or 24-bit they load fine but of course take up a lot more disk....68k and 1,592k respectively. Unfortunately there are hundreds of bitmap files used in this program so those k's will add up quickly plus the fact that I'd prefer not to redistribute them all to the users. Is there anything I can do so the compressed files will work in Visual?

That must be an unusual BMP format. I have been using 24-bit BMP
pictures in one of my apps and each picture takes up approximately 170k.
When I convert that BMP to JPG (JPEG), with a 10:1 compression,
its size is only 9k! Starting with VFP 6, you can display JPG files
on a form. You might want to change the app to JPG. Just a thought
(and a lot of work)...
Terry :)
