I started doing ASP.NET projects and learned the data access thing quite easily and that translates to windows forms as well. The difficulty I have found (reducing my productivity) is that the form controls are not nearly as robust as those in VFP. In fact, the data grid is not even as robust as the one in the ASP.NET module. It seems to be very painful to create something as 'simple' as a lookup grid. As an example, when a grid is sorted by a specific column, I usually like to give some visual evidence of which column it is . . . like changing the background color of the header or even the entire column itself. As far as I have found up to this point, the column header has very few properties that can be utilized. I can't even center the text in the header unless I center the text of the whole column.

I suspect, as with all MS new products, that this will all fade into history as new releases come along, but for now it is painful.

Now, having said that, I have clients that only want to have their programs created in the 'newest' MS tool. They want C# projects, not VFP.
