Fear could be at the root of our reaction to the war on terrorism. There have been many rationalizations given by the administration such as:

1. Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). This has recently been dismissed by the Administration as a reason for the war. In that way the Administration is no longer responsible for the fact that WMD’s have not been found.

2. Saddam Hussein had direct ties to al queda. Still not proven and being down played by some members of the Administration, however Cheney still plays that song, even though Bush denied it.

3. Saddam Hussein is ruthless and killed his own countrymen.

4. Saddam Hussein caused instability in the region.

5. It is better to fight in Iraq then in the United States.

6. The latest rationalization is, Saddam Hussein is behind the attacks on Americans inside of Iraq.

Excuses will change and the Administration will try to find something that the majority will agree is important. Like, the war with Iraq is important to reelect GWB for President!
