Thanks for the links to those threads. I had already taken a look at them and they seem a bit different in that on is an image & label in a container as a kind of home made button and the other deals with the difference between VFP7 & 8 regarding white image backgrounds.

I am using VFP8 SP1 on a Windows 2000 machine. I am fairly confident that I have saved this simple GIF file with a transparent background. As such the WHITE (Background) should not appear but it does...... Seems like Command buttons are not HONORING the transparency of the .GIF?

Ironically it seems to work on W98?
