Sure, I would have seen the error right away if I had used some other alias. But the same is true if there had been some other, or no, table open in workarea 1. It really was all quite coincidental that the table in area 1 had a same named field. Coincidents happen, and there are many other, including 'good practice', situations that can cause extensive debugging sessions. And what 'good practice' should a programmer apply to prevent that the used many-chars alias is not used elsewhere??

BTW, I'd like to close this 'good practices' part of the thread. If you like, you can continue in a new thread, ok?!
