I think given the choice, it is preferable to use a loader to update the exe and to store the exe on the user's workstation for speed. I prefer to store all temporary files on the users' workstations also. Only the data need be on the server for security, shared access, etc. There are many different opinions (as you stated) on this. My experience has been that it works best in the scenario I described above. However, we have some locations that run the exe from the server instead of the client, but that is not the norm. Sometimes you have to test the different configurations to see what works best for your customer as most networks are configured differently, have different topologies, cable, routers, hubs, switches, Novell, MSFT, Nics, etc. So much can come into play with network access and speed and security.

Glad you got it working! Good luck!

>>I use a different foxuser.dbf for each app and each version of VFP on my system. Do you specify a resource file in your config.fpw that is called when you run your app? We use the following command line when we run our vfp apps in the shortcut to specify a config.fpw which then points to a specific foxuser.dbf:
>>
>>K:\PROFILER\PROGS\pro32.exe -cc:\foxpro\vfp8\config.fpw

>>EDITWORK=C:\FOXPRO\TMP\
