I thought the very purpose of this community was to help out and move on. I'm sure my patient's would love it if I told them, go on the Internet and read about your disorder <g>. A little insulting I say Bonnie. Lighten up. Who made you the UT cop.

Ok, hit a hot spot here with me, and I'm gonna rant for a bit. I've been paying attention to this thread.

Neil, I think the point that Bonnie is trying to make is, "Give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach him to fish and feed him for life" or however the saying goes. I'm not trying to bash you, and I understand that you are a beginner to .NET, but I mean asking how to set a breakpoint, requires 2 minutes of playing in the IDE or opening to the first chapter of ANY .NET book and reading a paragraph.

The problem I've run into on a lot of forums, and why I like UT compared to others is it filters out some of those very basic questions. I mean, I think everyone should read and spend some basic time trying to understand the IDE, or the language before asking for help. On a lot of the other forums, I run into questions like , "How do I program?", which are so generic that you don't know what to do with it.

Your question wasn't generic, so that is good, but it runs into a fine line between hand-holding and helping. I don't mind helping at all, people send me their code all the time, and I will spend hours debugging and trying to figure it out, but one thing I won't do is hand hold. That is problem.

It becomes the problem, using my analogy, that people won't pick up the rod themselves and fish, when someone else keeps giving them their catch.

See, that is my point, now Neil I'm not saying you want someone to do your work for you, but some of those questions are starting to lead it to sound that way.

So, for myself, I will answer your question if I can, but I won't hold hands when people are even willing to try for themselves first.

Morgan
