Dear All,

Just want to ask if anyone of you experience same scenario.

In our production data(Live Files). The sizes of all indexes
is almost same as the database it self, and likewise the size of
the memo file is larger than the database and Index Files.

for example: drinv.dbf 17,251kb (dated Oct. 16, 2003)
drinv.cdx 17,149kb
drinv.fpt 24,406kb

In our directories i have folder FILES (That Contains the live data)
and folder BACKUP (Contains same structures of FILES but no data inside).

The purpose of this two folders if sometimes the indexes are not behaving properly (Having a problem) or we need to do upgrade/alter the live database structure we simply backup all the live records into the empty backup folder.

Actually we do this process since then, but what wondered me now, i discovered something different. all my indexes and fpt(memo files) becomes so small.

for example: drinv.dbf 18,383kb (Base on updated live records)
(dated Oct. 16, 2003)
drinv.cdx 4,874kb
drinv.fpt 1,164kb

In my file transfer program i just use command APPEND FROM ....
and what i've noticed also all the memo data are coppied correctly, means all are intact so far as i scanned most of the records. Since quite big file so i simply check it randomly and still no complains from the users yet. :)

Yha for sure all the packed records are not coppied and there are few deleted records in the database before i do file transfer. So i just wondering why my database indexes and memo files become so smaller size. it is more than half from the original size. Even there is deleted records when i pack the database it wont reach that much size.? Can anyone Help me to
explain the reason or have any reason for this strange scenario.?

There is no virus also.. becuase we normally scanned the files regularly.

Thanks in advance

Regards
Reymund
