>>According to CNN, the violence in Bolivia has caused 55 dead, in 1 month of conflict.

>It seems ridiculous that after over 140+ years of losing a war, they still fight over access to the sea. I don't get it. If they want to sell natural gas, and why wouldn't they as it is probably the main export (after coca leave of course < g >), and they do not want to get an agreement with Chile, why not do it with Peru?

>My understanding is that the sales of gas are currently to Argentina, and Argentina is reselling it to Brazil. Why not then sell to Brazil directly? Seems to me that it could all be resolved amicably and avoid the stupid conflict, deaths, the international bad image, and the resulting loss of tourists, trade, etc.

It certainly is a large waste. I hope it gets resolved soon.
Difference in opinions hath cost many millions of lives: for instance, whether flesh be bread, or bread be flesh; whether whistling be a vice or a virtue; whether it be better to kiss a post, or throw it into the fire... (from Gulliver's Travels)
