Interchange the name “Wal-mart” with just about any named store such as Safeway, Albertson, Von’s, A&P, etc. They put most mom and pop grocery stores out of business, along with dairy companies that delivered milk to your door.

Then add Target, Best Buy, Costco, Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc. The list goes on and on. The goal is to have one super store where the customer can just use the Internet to have whatever they want delivered.

The business model that calls for large and multi chained stores helps reduce the price of goods at the wholesale in large volume amounts which are further discounted, which may or may not be passed on to the purchaser. Little stores have had a problem for decades trying to compete with this model.

It is amazing that any small stores are still able to do business and sustain the owners with a standard of living.

>Heck, I've realized this for a long time. The consumer doesn't give a rat's patootie about the econonmy or his social environment. All they care about is "Wal-mart has it for #$ cents less!! Let's go there! They always have the best prices!!!!"..... In the meantime, mom and pop stores go broke trying to compete and jobs are lost.......... many jobs!!

>I don't shop at Wal-mart. I tell my friends not to shop there. They don't listen. I wonder when my job will be out-sourced to India or China? Or theirs?????
