Look closely at the SCAN statements you use. If it is just SCAN then you are bringing the whole table across the network. If it is SCAN FOR then make absolutely sure the expression is 100% matched to an index or you may be bringing much or all of the table across the network as well. We were caught a couple of times by doing a SCAN FOR cSurname=UPPER(lcSurname) when the actual index was on UPPER(cSurname) ...
