I am having trouble with VFP 8/ VFP 8 SP1

When I have a table open and selected I like to see the table information in the status bar. The only way I can get it to work is to issue these commands everytime I go into VFP.

SET NOTIFY CURSOR on
SET STATUS BAR OFF
SET STATUS BAR ON

I try to save the settings but have no luck, any ideas?
