For the datatype, the col$ view has a type# column. I can see that the following codes map to the corresponding data types:

Type#   Data Type
-----   ---------
  2     Number
  1     Varchar2
 96     Char
 12     Date

Is there another system table that I can join to to get the actual names of the data types? TIA!
