Yes I agree - ODBC is what I'm using to access Postgres. M$ is making it hard to use any other backend other than SQL. But I followed your discussion on the fox forum on using the cursoradapter. I'm guessing that you got it to work.

Python does have an DBI module. In fact it has a "cursor", fetchall etc... Python also has several native DB access modules and Postgres is one. I believe there are modules for MySQL, Oracle, SQLLite, DB2 and something called GladFly. I think Python covers what I need for the moment.

Of course Java covers just as many DB's as Python if not more. I'm not sure if all of the JDBC's are native - but I bet the are.
