you can try two printable fields which overlay each other

Make the first field a BMP file
In the "print when" area enter = .t.

Make the 2nd field a text field.
In the textbox enter iif( = "R","X","")
In the "print when" area enter <> "A"

Basically only one report field will print based on the value of the variable/field
