Another thought would be to zip the contents of the memo to a file and just store the path to the file in the sql table. But I have to agree with Hilmar that this would be a lot of work, and would take a significant amount of time when having to zip/unzip.

Hard drives are extremely cheap - so going through this would not make sense overall when you could spend a couple of hundred dollars, and not worry about it.
