>Hello, Peter.
>
>>>As one who has been helping people online and in person since grade school, I can tell you that my primary reasons for doing it have always been a) it's the right thing to do; and b) I learn by helping others.
>>>
>>>When I answer any but the simplest question, I have to organize my thoughts, and usually end up understanding whatever it is better than I did beforehand.
>>
>>And what are your secondary reasons? None?
>
>My main reason is basically the same as Tamar stated. I have to say that providing help and trying to answer other people's questions is the best way I know to learn.
>
>Yes, there must be an ego component about that, also. It´s good to present a session and have the people coming to it because they know you and trust you, and it is good to feel others recognize you.
>
>But I understand that your main point is about having information or resources that make you professionally more "competitive". Well, in that case, I'm quite sure that most people *very* involved with communities could easily make more money without spending the time to share, dedicating it instead to their "official" jobs.

>Yes, maybe the added exposure produce some additional opportunities, but this is far from being a real "great" deal.
>
>Of course, this is just my vision.

>See you, Peter,
Groet,
Peter de Valença

Let's develop superb standards that will end the holy wars.
"There are three types of people: Alphas and Betas", said the beta decisively.
