Steven Black mentioned a method he uses for trouble things like that. Put the original authors code at the top of a PRG, and your changed methods at the bottom. VFP compiles the PRG and only leaves the last method/procedure in the compile. When updates don't perform as you need, copy your changes back to the bottom. I've been using the idea for a while.
