If your application is commercial, then you need to pay for MySQL if you distribute it with your app.
I your customer already have MySQL but your app need the ODBC/OLE DB driver, then, again , you need to pay for the driver
Get Firebird SQL, it has another licence (IPL - Interbase Public Licence - can be freely distributed with commercial apps) , and is more advanced than MySQL.
