I think this was affected by the fixes for one of these SP1 fixlist items - from the SP1 readme:

· Menus - Fatal exception occurs on PUSH MENU, POP MENU, or SET SYSMENU TO DEFAULT command after modifying report.
· Menus - Fatal exception occurs when calling SET SYSMENU TO DEFAULT after closing debugger.
· Menus - Fatal exception occurs when calling SET SYSMENU SAVE with Report Designer open.

If your app does PUSH MENU, POP MENU or SET SYSMENU SAVE / TO DEFAULT, these could very well have been the culprit. Of the above 3 items, the 1st and 3rd crash in VFP7 also, but the 2nd only crashes in VFP8, and that one could be very intermittent. These changes are related to what happens when automatic menu pads, like "Report" or "Format", are present when a menu command is executed (like a PUSH MENU), then absent when a later command is executed (like a POP MENU), or vice-versa.

This menu handling should be more stable in VFP8 SP1 than in previous VFP versions.
