Well, David was kidding, as I see he pointed out. He also answers the question more seriously, and I want to stress something...

n-tier code may not necessarily be more maintainable, IMHO. The hope is, in fact, that you don't have to maintain it at all. It should be more extensible, however. The system the n-tier architecture is used for is more maintainable. That's important because sometimes we're inclined to toss out the buzz words in a way that can be very misleading. And n-tier can be implemented where it makes sense to, and it doesn't _always_ make sense to adhere strictly to the standard.

In actual fact, I think that the complexity in our jobs has just shifted. Don't get me wrong, I still am a huge fan of n-tier and OOP.
