That's the problem. It is not the fact that I am working with free tables. The VFP OLE DB provider does not work well with vfp databases either. The visual designers don't work with them and the commandbuilder does not work with them either. And.... even though I have created a custom data class, as per the developer's guide, I still am getting a run time error. The error states that the command builder cannot generate an automated SelectCommand. I wrote seperate commands for SELECT, INSERT and UPDATE, all with proper fox sql syntax. So you see, it's not just freee tables but vfp also. I know that you have an example in your book, .net for vfp developers, reading vfp data but you don't have an example of UPDATE, INSERT or DELETE for vfp databases ot free tables. Was this not necessary to illustrate vfp data access and manipulation, or was it just not possible in the context of the chapter?
