I had (had being the oprative word) an article that showed how to create a new currency manager for the combo box to solve the problem without creating another copy of the data. Copying the table results in .net creating another currency manager for the combo.

This sounds like the right approach. I just can't remember how this was done. If I manage to find it I’ll post it here.
