>I have VFP application that is going to need to read data from a USB device. The device is like a plug, where the plug is a chip that has a unique id on it. When the user takes the plug and inserts it into the device, the device sends back the unique id of the chip. Pretty cool for tracking purposes. The device has a serial and a USB version. I know to read data from the serial device. That is easy using the COM control, but does anyone know how to read the data from a USB device? I have never worked with USB under VFP, so I don't know where/how to read the data.

The documentation for the USB version of the device should have interface details. There may be a device driver and/or ActiveX/OCX control to work with it. Most devices like this include at least VB sample code on how to interface with it.
