>>When a person makes an assertion - some form of objective evidence (direct or circumstantial) must be offered in support.

The above assertion seems to disprove itself. Perhaps some truths are to be held "self-evident". Hmmmm, I've heard that before somewhere. Imagine if somebody had decided to disrupt those particular proceedings by saying "prove it" every time somebody else tried to make a point.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
