> Almost make you want to switch to Borland Delphi completely... :o)

I did try several times but the native VFP Data Engine and better GUI designer still makes VFP the clear winner in building robust desktop database apps the fastest tool on the planet. However, I definitely like using Delphi to build ActiveX components to be used in VFP. Nothing beats Delphi in that regards. It's also great for building nice components for ASP and other tools which you already know.

However, one VERY COOL thing about Delphi is that the next version code name OCTANE is that it will be a .NET language! So, that means you learn Object Pascal and you can now code for Windows 32 (DELPHI), Linux (KYLIX) and the .NET Platform (DELPHI .NET (Octane)) without having to use different languages. It's like Fox was in the old days. It's just that you can get at ALL the low-level stuff that you want using Delphi and still have a great high level language as well using the Delphi Classes.

So, my .NET language of choice will be Delphi .NET!

The other great thing about Delphi Professional and above is that you get ALL the source code to all of the classes used in compiling your apps. So, if something is broken which is pretty rare. It can always be tweaked and fixed unlike VFP. <bg>

Wouldn't it be great if the VFP Team rewrote VFP using Delphi so, we could run VFP on Windows, Linux and have a .NET version of VFP as well! <bg>

Maybe if Microsoft bought Borland this could become a reality.
