Personally, I prefer the JPG, because of the drastic reduction in disk space.

However, note that by default, JPG uses lossy compression, which means a small reduction in quality - imperceptible for photographs, quite perceptible for screenshots. (For screenshots, BTW, I would use the GIF format.)

The JPG standard allows for lossless compression, but most graphic programs can't handle that.
