>>Only the the SQL Server 2000 backwards compatibility features in Yukon for remote data access.
>
>Not knowing squat about Yukon, could you please give a little more clarification regarding the above statement. I mean, are you saying that Yukon would have to be running in "SQL Server 2000 backwards compatibility" mode, or can you only access features of Yukon (using current access technologies) that are part of a set of features that amount to "SQL Server 2000 backwards compatibility" mode? Is restriction activated by the connection type?

VFP (8.0 and Europa) will not be able to take advantage of the new features in Yukon, only features that are relative to what already exists in SQL Server 2000 (mainly data types). I can't be more specific than that, so I probably won't answer any specific follow up questions to this. To take advantage of all the new Yukon features (like the new XML data type and others), Whidbey will be required. Europa is going to have many new data handling language enhancements (SELECT/UPDATE/etc) including some improved data type compatibility for SQL Server 2000.
