>Instead of whining about the shrinking market etc..., just buy more copies of VFP8, it sure will help beautify VFP8 sales...

i am not whining....
just making an observation...
I happy with my month to month work but I can see the forest through the trees.

>One way i use to support VFP is to have all my clients buy at least one copy of VFP8 for maintenance purposes: i just connect to their system and do all the stuff on site, rather than transfering and doing in my computer. They are happier for that kind of service, and this way more copies of VFP are sold, so it is a win-win situation.

>Also, i do thousands of dollars a month, for years, using Visual Foxpro. I can deliver, alone, apps that compete with some big software companies, for a fraction of the price and the time. For me, i do not mind if Visual Foxpro were priced 4000-5000 $ for the full version, it would still be worth it for me ( also, i deduct this from my taxes anyway ), so i do not mind support the product by buying many copies for myself for every new version.

Nice idea, but its too late. VFP is being 'technically orphaned' as we exchange these messages. Even if your idea had 'caught on like wild fire' I still think MS would have made the .NET move it is making right now. Your 'goodwill' methods do not fit into MS's development tools revenue model.
