Lisa - sorry to have bothered you with this.

I was editing the contents of the element using a textbox control, and because I was saving the contents without shifting focus off of the control, my edits werent' getting saved! . As a result, it *looked* like the indentation of the XML file was being interpreted as being part of the element content. That turns out not to be the case.

Once I realized what was happening, and ensured the updating of the data, the edits were being saved as I expected them to be, formatting white space and all.

BTW, this seems like old times - me, drool on my chin, stoopid look on my face, and you trying to straighten me out. I won't mention publicly how many years ago we started doing this! <g>
