I have a user on XP using Office 2003. When she uses "save as" a link to the original document is retained.

On saving the new version she gets
"Do you want to merge changes in x back into y?"

There are 3 buttons: Yes, No, No and don't ask again

No and don't ask again doesn't seem to work. The documents seem prone to corruption and are causing hours of lost productivity as the user has to recreate her work.

How can I make the save as truly independant (if she wanted a template, she'd make a template)?

Are the corruptions being caused by something else?

The same docs on Office 2000 are faultless, easy to update, work like a charm.

thanks

Sarah
