>Are you having problems making both SQL7 and SQL2K work together on the same box?

No, they are both working fine on the same box. The problem comes in with connecting to a SQL 2000 named instance from another workstation (using ODBC). I can connect successfullly to a SQL 7 db from another machine and I can connect to either on the machine that has them installed.

>You have to install SQL2K using 'named pipes', not the default IP configuration. I can access both servers (on the same W2K server box) from my workstations just fine using this methodology, it just requires different connection objects for each.

I installed as a 'named instance.' I don't really know how to install using 'named pipes.' What does that mean or where can I find out about it? I'll see if BOL has anything I can decipher as a start.

Sounds like I'll have to reinstall once I figure out what to do.
