As a fellow foreigner who spends lots of time in the US in hotels or apartments the company leases for me, IMHO Las Vegas has several BIG advantages:
1) Hotels are cheap.
2) Food is cheap.
3) Los Angeles is close- easy to get to for people like us.
4) Ignoring the prostitutes and gambling, approach the place as an overstated amusement park and it's good clean fun- Venice, Rio, the Sphinx... I'm seriously considering taking my two (soon to be three) daughters there next year.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
