Doris,

>And every time MS announces a security patch, they tell all the little hacker wannabes how to hack through the hole that the patch is for. So, some little dweeb writes some code and we can't get to the 'Net for a day because our Systems area has slammed everything down until they can get the patch propagated out.

It certainly would not be any different if Linux were the dominant O/S in the market. The hackers will be out there writing the same viruses to attack Linux boxes, which is arguably easier because they have a clear view of the source code.

Hackers are out there to cause random havoc, it doesn't matter what O/S hosts their infantile hobby. Sure there are a few out there that have a "hate" of Microsoft. Others would have a hate for each of the Linux vendors if it was used on a higher percentage of the boxes out there. And if Linux in all it's flavors you'd have to wait for your particular flavor to get fixed and deploy the patch. That's about an order of magnitude more frustration than routinely hitting windowsupdate.micsoft.com.
