There is a PrintingStatus object in CR9, that returns ---
Number of pages , number of records printed, number of records selected etc and the progress of the job, cancelled, halted, complete etc..

Create a reference to the object and query the properties..

loPrintStatus = loReport.PrintingStatus()

If you do not have Craig's book on intergrating CR with VFP, it is a must have.
