Is ok, I'm not taking them as patronizing and what you're probably picking up from me is my frustration because I KNOW that this should work the way we expect it to.

Ok...now that that's out of the way, it's a base grid, free table as the control source and the control source is at the grid level. Columns 1 - 4 are Read Only (at the column level).

I've tried moving the control source to the column...no good, or at least no help.

Yes, I'm moving off/out of the cell after I change the value. I've moved out using the Enter key, the Tab key and the mouse.

This is vexing me....
