OK here's the whole story:
I was using recordsourcetype = table and then the records did not appear and all the record lines showed the deleted indicator ON. When I changed the recordsourcetype to alias, it worked.
I discovered something else: If you put the creation of the cursor in the LOAD, you don't even have to set the recordsource; the grid'll automatically pick it up!
