I use some of DBI's controls and they work fairly well with VFP. I wouldn't recommend using any ActiveX control over a comparable VFP control. There are always some headaches and you need to learn each control's little nuances. However, the DBI controls do provide a lot of functionality which you cannot -- or at least not without a lot of work -- achieve with VFP's native controls. You can add a lot of slick stuff with not too much effort.

And if they have the functionality you need, I wouldn't look beyond DBI. They have VFP experience, seem to test on VFP and there's a lot of VFP developers who use them and can help with problems.
