No, but I just tried that, and it didn't work either.

Since I was futzing around, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try everything else again.

Once I got this login established, gave it access to the database and set the necessary permissions, the app worked fine.

Oh, well, I'll take success any way I can get it. Even the hard way <s>.
