David - ok, fair enough. And it would be nice if CODE has a few more articles on VFP now and again :)...
>Claude,

>>Well, yes, in a way. The fact that most of the first articles in the mag were mostly VFP and now there's pretty much nothing for vfp - yet you guys are still hanging around the vfp community. Again, there's nothing wrong with this generally - I just personally don't like this sort of thing where you profess such an interest in vfp yet don't write about it or spend much time with it. The likely reason is that you're trying to move people over to .NET. Again, nothing wrong with this generally...

>Thanks for the explanation. I understand your concerns, I think. However, let me state clearly that we (CoDe Magazine staff) are not hanging out here so that we can move people over to .NET. We hang out here because we have many friends here and still consider ourselves part of the VFP community, which still rates as the most unique and active user community of any, IMO. I hope no one prefers that we leave. :-)
>
>We have shown our interest in VFP both in the fact that we use it every day internally and in commercial software development and also in the publication of an entire special issue on the launch of VFP8. I don't think that qualifies as don't write about it or spend much time with it. In many ways, the content of CoDe parallels the direction many of us are moving as software developers, but we're not on a crusade to move you over to .NET. We're simply writing about new technologies that are very interesting and relevant to our own work.
>
>From the beginning, CoDe has covered many interesting emerging technologies and products that we actually use, such as XML, MSMQ, BizTalk Server, and much more. The fact the many of the articles at the start (3 and a half years ago!!!) used VFP code to illustrate the technologies is actually a reflection of the tools we were using most of the time. A lot can and does change in 3.5 years in the development tool world and magazine publishers must guess correctly on emerging trends in order to continue growing and become and remain profitable.
>
>That being said, I can understand that people who use VFP as their primary or only development tool would prefer to see more VFP coverage in the regular issues of CoDe (and other magazines like MSDN Mag, Visual Studio Mag, SDTimes, Software Development Mag, SQL Server magazine, etc). That probably is not likely to happen with any of those other magazines unless community people pitch very compelling articles about VFP and how it works with other technologies or solves difficult problems in an amazing way. Even then, the editorial boards of the various magazines may not agree that it is newsworthy. (They take surveys of readers, too).
>
>If you want lots of VFP coverage, you have Advisor and FoxTalk (or you can start your own mag focused on VFP -- not for the faint of heart, but perhaps a good model for some enterprising people here).

>Thanks for raising an interesting discussion topic, Claude.
