Jim,
The redirection of URL's and the number of Registry entries plus the slow down of the machine was frightening - it seems that this type of invasion is something I don't want on my machine and having discovered it, I was then surprised that it did not seem to pop up here as a discussion item. I am pleased that i discovered the SpyBot package - I suppose the Virus packages will eventually expand into this area.
Regards.

>I have tried Spybot and I agree - it is amazing the clutter that accumulates through general Web surfing, wanted or not. Other than the privacy aspect, do you know of any real danger from these 'pests'? Beyond altered browser behavior, that is...

>>I have not seen any mention here of another category of Pest that one acquires from the Internet. I thought that Firewall + Virus software was keeping my machine clean. But i downloaded a shareware programme called SpyBot-S&D and had it run a check. Surprise surprise. I am no expert in this area but I think that the AD Ware stuff that is coming into our machines deserves some attention. There are other products that do this job - this is the only one that i have tried.
