I know this is an old thread but I've been waiting for sp1 before migrating my app to VFP 8...

I fully understand the issue and your explanation is the most clear, accurate and consise of all that I've encountered. In my testing I (think) have determined that, in addition to aggregate functions, constants do not need to be included in the GROUP BY clause either.

Is that your understanding?
