Hi Peter

>> Some months after the publication of my model you and Marcia (btw, give my best regards) had a similar topic in Foxtalk. There were similarities, but also important differences between the solutions and I remember I felt an urge to start a constructive discussion.

I remember it well - it was called 'Addressing, the Issues'. Actually that column generated more responses than any other single column to date. Admittedly most them were of the "I liked your column, tell me how to design the UI to implement such a data structure".

This is probably the most common type of response that we see and are what we refer to as the "I am getting paid to do this but I expect you to tell me, for free, how I can make money and not give you anything back". We ususally reply to such demands by sending copies of our consulting rates :) (For some reason we never hear anything more from those people).

> I could have sent you a private e-mail, but a public discussion appeared to be the preferred alternative. I was in search of a place to start such a discussion. Foxtalk does not have a forum and UT, for some vague reason, didn't seem to be the appropriate place to start a discussion about a Foxtalk topic. In the end all my hesitation led to doing nothing at all, and I now think I should have sent you the private e-mail indeed.

You could have gone to Compuserve where such discussions are actively encouraged:
