Reliability enhancements present in DB servers typically aren't present in OSs (you'd need them there to take advantage of, for file-based databases), whether they're 32-, 64- or whatever-bit.

DB servers handling large volumes of data e.g. intermediate results in complex JOINs is one area where in some cases 64-bit computing is legitimately needed, if only to simplify/speed up access to tons of RAM. They are actually driving this market at the moment.

Performance: the same performance advantages of DB servers are likely to hold on 64-bit as well as 32-bit platforms. Why would a 64-bit system give an advantage to file-based databases?
